Steps for a successful activation / Pairing of your Clip 2 to your Smartphone

So you've just received your Clip 2, and you can't wait to use it. What next?

Here are some steps to help ensure a successful activation of your Clip 2, and to pair it to your Smartphone. The sooner you're all set up, the sooner you're out enjoying your Clip 2! 

If you do not have a Smartphone, please go to to download the Narrative Uploader. With the Narrative Uploader, you will be able to activate your Clip 2 on both Windows and Mac computers.




1. Download the Narrative Smartphone App

To start you'll first need the Narrative Smartphone App. We currently support iOS and Android. You can download this from Google Play or the App Store, respectively. 


2. Setting up your Narrative Account

When you're setting up your Clip 2 you'll be prompted to create a Narrative Account. The Narrative Service is where your photos will be uploaded to via your Clip 2's wireless feature. You can also use an existing account and, if you'd like to get ahead of the game, you can set up an account at When you're in the App, tap on the Clip icon in the top right corner of the screen.


3. Is your Bluetooth on?

To pair with the Clip 2 or change any settings you'll need your Smartphone's Bluetooth on. You'll also need the Clip 2 to be connected to power the first time you activate it. You can access your Bluetooth through your phone's settings. Without Bluetooth you can't access your Clip 2.

4. Have you changed your Wi-Fi settings?

The Clip 2 uses Wi-Fi to upload photos to the Narrative Service. When you go to a new location, and want to upload your photos, you'll need to access the Wi-Fi settings of your Clip 2, and adjust it to your environment's Wi-Fi. Your Clip 2 will remember previously used Wi-Fi points.

Once you have set up your Clip 2, you will be able to view your content on either the Smartphone App or via You will need to upload the content before you're able to view it.
