Sharing Narrative Photos via the Smartphone App

How do I share Narrative photos from my Smartphone?

You can now share your favourite photos to friends and family even easier! The latest version of the Smartphone Apps can share to a variety of social media services including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

To start sharing, open your Moment in the Smartphone App and slide to the photo you want to share. Tap on the "Share" icon (circled in red below) and select "Share Photo" to choose your social media service.

You will then be asked how you would like to share your photo, and can select "More" to use other applications installed on your Smartphone.

Sharing to Facebook

Providing you have Facebook installed on your phone, you can share your photo onto your Facebook profile page. Type your Facebook message, choose which Facebook Album you would want to save your Clip's photo to, choose a location and who you want to see the photo!

Sharing to Twitter

If Twitter is installed on your Smartphone, you can also share directly to your Twitter Account.

Sharing to Instagram

Sharing to Instagram just got easier too! You'll also be able to move and scale your photo before you publish it.

Sharing to other services

By clicking "More" on the "Share Photo" menu, you're free to share your photos through a variety of services, and can also email your photos directly to who you want!

    I noticed, in thepicture above, that there is what appears to be a bluetooth connection to a smartphone. What is that connector and where can I get one? I have not found any other reference to a bluetooth connection on any of the other pages and there was no connector in the box with my unit/

    @Richard Cressy Hi Richard. Currently, the only way to connect the Clip is through a USB cable as shown above. Please feel free to clarify if you have any further questions. Have a great day!

    I have been syncing and uploading to the Narrative Clip servers. Now I want to get hundreds of them on to my local machine to make a time-lapse video. The only way I can find to do so is to select each photo, one by one, then either email them to myself or add them to my camera roll. Fine but labor intensive. Is there a "select all" button? or a "select from first photo tapped through next photo tapped"? Or a mouse driven interface where I can grab hundreds of my photos at a time and move them from the Narrative Clip servers to my local storage?

    Hi @Brian, I know we have been in contact via email r.e. this request. Bulk download from the Cloud is currently in development, however it is possible to 'Select' multiple photos in your iOS App and download /share your selected photos en-masse from there.

    Going forwards, it is also possible to save a copy of your photos to local disk during import - this will give you instant access to photos in raw format. https://support.getnarrative.com/hc/en-us/articles/201877397-Uploading-To-Narrative-Library-cloud-service-vs-Using-Local-Storage

    Have a great weekend! // David

    @David Ellis, do you mind giving a quick update on the development of bulk download? I'm definitely very very interested in doing this. Would love to know when the feature is live so I can! Many thanks

    Hi there!

    Bulk Download is currently in development, therefore it's unfortunately difficult to give a precise ETA for release. Please drop us an email via support@getnarrative.com and we would be very happy to notify you as soon as this feature becomes available.

    // Best, David

    Hi @Brian & @Sean,

    I'm pleased to inform you our brand new bulk downloading feature is here! To test it out, simply head to http://narrativeapp.com, select the photos you'd like to export and click "download." The pictures will be saved as a zip file together with their meta data.

    Best,

    Maria,

    Thanks for the information. This http://narrativeapp.com is quite a nice step in the right direction. What I'm still interested though are "select all" and "select none" buttons. Are those on the list of things to add?

    @Maria,

    I'm with @Brian_Votaw here. It's almost like the product development team is intentionally handicapping the export functionality out of the Narrative Clip. I can imagine the discussion in the room now: "...but WE WANT our customers to do this with their photos". I've bought the narrative clip, used it a whole bunch on some amazing travels, and now I have to click every single photo in order to get it out of the app. Can there not be "select all" functionality (or simply an "export all" button)? If there were, I would rave about the Narrative Clip and be using it possibly daily again. As it stands, I've stopped using the narrative clip and stopped telling my friends about it because I cannot get my photos out of it without spending hours (or days) clicking buttons in the app. Therefore the photos are of no value to me.

    If your users must develop a grease monkey script to build their own "select all" functionality into your app, then that's probably a sign your product development team is steering the product ship in some direction that is based on their incentives and not their users. Can you imagine any photographer buying a camera that makes them spend hours of manual tedious clicking photo-by-photo in a web interface to get their photos out? Makes no sense!

    @Brian, It's my pleasure! We are constantly working hard on the development of the Narrative Experience and will be sure to keep you updated if "select all" and "select none" options become available.

    Hey @Sean! Thanks for being so honest and open about your experience so that we can learn from it. We really appreciate you helping us to improve our process. Currently, as noted above, the "select all" feature is not available. However, if you'd like to remove pictures from your app and would rather not select photos one-by-one you can delete the entire moment. To do so inside the smartphone app, simply tap and hold the moment's cover photo for a second. You will be prompted with the delete function.

    I will be back in touch if a "select all" feature becomes available!

    Best,
